Kite Strings

A tender, character-led short exploring memory, care, and the slow unraveling of family bonds. Written and directed by Kirsty Patrick Ward, Kite Strings follows Kat as she struggles to care for her mother, Heather, whose dementia is slowly erasing the life they once shared. The film approaches its subject with quiet realism, built on strong performances, natural light, and a restrained edit that lets emotion surface in small gestures and silence.

Shot in the UK, the film features cinematography by Josh White, production design by Isobel Baker-Smith, and an original score by One Orchestra. The edit, by Will Simpson, focuses on rhythm and perspective, holding on to moments of stillness as much as movement.
