Breaking the Mould: Sculpture by Women Since 1945

Breaking the Mould brings together sculpture by women from across seventy-five years of the Arts Council Collection. The exhibition challenges familiar accounts of post-war British sculpture, showing the range of materials, forms and approaches that those accounts have often overlooked.

The film introduces the touring exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, where it opened at Longside Gallery in May 2021. Works by fifty sculptors place established figures alongside more recent generations, bringing different practices into conversation.
