Working within an established series format, the edit draws on months of filmed material to tell concise stories about unexplained deaths and the people left behind.

Each investigation unfolds gradually, following the evidence through to the inquest. The challenge was to hold the viewer's attention while giving the families' stories the care and space they needed.
