Rising Sun
An artificial dawn as the daylight fades.
By day, Rising Sun reflects the sky and sea in a six-metre sphere of mirrored panels. As daylight fades, light from within turns it into a glowing sun, suspended above the water.
Created with production designer Christopher Daniel and sound artist Toby Wiltshire, the installation combines programmed light with multichannel sound. The setting sun gives way to its mechanical counterpart.
Originally commissioned by Bournemouth Arts by the Sea in 2017, Rising Sun was later staged at Liverpool Tall Ships Festival in 2018.
