Roger Hiorns: Seizure

A film about Roger Hiorns' transformation of a council flat into a blue crystal interior.

My role: Direction, Editor

Roger Hiorns filled an empty London council flat with copper sulphate solution, leaving blue crystals across its walls, floor and ceiling. Seizure turns an ordinary domestic space into something unfamiliar, with the traces of the former home still visible beneath the crystalline surface.

Commissioned by Arts Council Collection, the film introduces the work as it found a new home at Yorkshire Sculpture Park in 2013. The flat was extracted from its original building before demolition and preserved within a purpose-built enclosure.
